She Has A Name’s 2024 Impact

This summary highlights our efforts through the 2024 calendar year (January 1st - December 31st). None of this would be possible without the faithfulness of our advocates and the generosity of our community. We invite you to invest in She Has A Name as you read and reflect. With your contributions we will be able to serve survivors and solicitors in 2025.

MISSION

She Has A Name is a strong community that exists to fight human trafficking through education and care for those impacted.

VISION

Our vision is to see all those impacted by human trafficking restored into society, welcomed in the workplace, and thriving in community.

Educate

Educate, equip, and empower the community to fight human trafficking.

SHAN facilitates four unique training programs to address the complex topic of human trafficking. Each is tailored to vulnerable populations and the communities that serve them.

She Has A Name brought the Trauma Responsive Care Training back to our training library after years partnering with the Columbus Care Coalition. The updated course was reviewed and revised by a team of survivors, and featured a panel incorporating survivor, counselor, and mentor voices.

We launched a new training initiative, Day of Learning, to gather all of our training programs in one day. 29 people learned through 9 unique courses in addition to a resource room that connected participants with our local network of partners. 9 partner agencies shared resources and provided unique ways to join the cause.

Thank you to the following groups who invited us to equip their people:

There is more work to be done…

Almost every time we lead a training, we are asked, “what about kids? Do they know about this?”. We know that the average age of entry into sex trafficking in the state of Ohio is 15 years old. Yet there are few efforts taken to ensure youth are aware of the realities of exploitation and equipped to recognize and report suspected cases. She Has A Name has adapted our trusted Introduction to Human Trafficking class to empower kids to avoid exploitation.

Will you invest in education to see more kids empowered to avoid exploitation and meaningfully join the cause in 2024?

Care

Care for the diverse needs of all those impacted by human trafficking

Survivor Care

She Has A Name offers two scholarships and two support groups for survivors of human trafficking. Interest grows in both areas as more people move beyond recovery and look ahead to what’s next as they thrive in community.

I have peace, stillness, and healing. All of this is possible, because of people like you and organizations like SHAN! Thank you for believing in me long before I believed in myself.”
— Ashley, 2024 Strategies for Success scholarship recipient and college graduate

There is more to be done…

Since our academic scholarship's inception in 2018 we have supported 20 survivors with over $100,000 in scholarships. However, in Fall 2024 alone we received 9 applicants with over $60,000 in requests. You can see that the need for this investment is growing exponentially. For the first time we had to say “no” to deserving applicants due to funding limitations. Will you join us and send more survivors through school in 2025?

solicitor care

We continue to learn more about what contributes to the decision to purchase sex. This information cultivated a trauma-informed approach to the four Solicitor Education Programs (SEP) hosted in February, May, August and November 2024. A total of 167 people completed the program.

We founded Solicitor Education Programs LLC to begin to multiply our curriculum across the country.

There is more to be done…

She Has A Name has received requests from other cities around the U.S. to bring our trauma-informed curriculum to other locations. Our sex trafficking demand reduction curriculum is in the final stages of development. Next it will go out to male-centric spaces like fraternities, youth groups, and other community places.

Will you change the conversation about cultural acceptance of sexual exploitation?

Stewardship

Effectively steward and care for the organization’s people and resources to advance the growth and sustainability of She Has A Name
