Our vision is to see ALL those impacted by human trafficking restored into society, welcomed in the workplace, and thriving in community. For this reason we serve survivors, thrivers (survivors in advanced recovery), and solicitors.
SHAN has responded to HT since 2015. After several years of exploring how to best serve survivors a clear need arose: supporting transformational post-care growth. That means providing financial and relational support to not just meet survivors where they are, but to empower and equip them to make it to where they see themselves headed next.
Life after trauma is challenging: addiction recovery, reuniting with family or rebuilding relationships, and fighting for safe housing and stable income in spite of criminal records just to name a few obstacles. Over and over we’ve seen education and the pursuit of dreams as key pieces that contribute towards thriving.
A financial award that invests in whatever is next for survivors of human trafficking.
An academic scholarship for survivors of human trafficking to gain financial assistance in the pursuit or completion of a degree or certification.
A monthly gathering of survivors of human trafficking who lead in their community.
We believe in community which is why we provide spiritual support through our partnership with Lower Lights.
2024 Impact
We awarded 17 survivors of human trafficking a total of $32,415 as they pursue dreams and degrees.
In December the Thrivers group enjoyed a retreat to Hocking Hills!
Dream Big | Since our academic scholarship's inception in 2018 we have supported 20 survivors with over $105,000 in scholarships. However, in Fall 2024 alone we received 9 applicants with over $60,000 in requests. You can see that the need for this investment is growing exponentially. For the first time we had to say “no” to deserving applicants due to funding limitations. Will you join us and send more survivors through school in 2025?
