She Has A Name’s 2023 Impact
Join us in celebrating the following stories and stats from 2023! This summary highlights our efforts through the 2023 calendar year (January 1st - December 31st). None of this would be possible without the faithfulness of our advocates and the generosity of our community. We invite you to invest in She Has A Name as you read and reflect.
MISSION
She Has A Name is a strong community that exists to fight human trafficking through education and care for those impacted.
VISION
Our vision is to see all those impacted by human trafficking restored into society, welcomed in the workplace, and thriving in community.
SHAN facilitates four unique training programs to address the complex topic of human trafficking. Each is tailored to vulnerable populations and the communities that serve them.
Family Education Day hosted 29 kids ages 3-17 and their caregivers as we boldly adapted our tested human trafficking training. In collaboration our trusted community partners like Gracehaven, Shared Hope International, SexEd Reclaimed and others we offered age-appropriate activities and information. Our efforts were featured in the Columbus Dispatch!

Thank you to the following groups who invited us to equip their people:
There is more work to be done…
Almost every time we lead a training, we are asked, “what about kids? Do they know about this?”. We know that the average age of entry into sex trafficking in the state of Ohio is 15 years old. Yet there are few efforts taken to ensure youth are aware of the realities of exploitation and equipped to recognize and report suspected cases. She Has A Name has adapted our trusted Introduction to Human Trafficking class to empower kids to avoid exploitation.
Will you invest in education to see more kids empowered to avoid exploitation and meaningfully join the cause in 2024?
Survivor Care
She Has A Name offers two scholarships and two support groups for survivors of human trafficking. Interest grows in both areas as more people move beyond recovery and look ahead to what’s next as they thrive in community.
There is more to be done…
Since our academic scholarship's inception in 2018 we have supported 16 survivors with over $93,000 in scholarships. However, in Fall 2023 alone we received 8 applicants with over $40,000 in requests. You can see that the need for this investment is growing exponentially. For the first time we had to say “no” to deserving applicants due to funding limitations. Will you join us and send more survivors through school in 2024?
solicitor care
We continue to learn more about what contributes to the decision to purchase sex. This information fostered a trauma-informed approach to the two Solicitor Education Programs (SEP) hosted in August and November 2023.
Revived SHAN’s demand reduction team, a group that has drafted a training led by men, for men to change cultural perceptions around sex for hire.
Convened two gatherings in March and December of Columbus’s sex trafficking demand reduction stakeholders, the first of it’s kind since the inception of Franklin County’s “John School.
Presented our “Why People Solicit” training at:
The Ohio Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Initiative Conference in January
Relink.org’s November webinar
S.O.A.P Project’s inaugural Male Human Trafficking Survivor Conference in November.
There is more to be done…
She Has A Name has received requests from other cities around the U.S. to bring our trauma-informed curriculum to other locations. Our sex trafficking demand reduction curriculum is in the final stages of development. Next it will go out to male-centric spaces like fraternities, youth groups, and other community places.
Will you change the conversation about cultural acceptance of sexual exploitation?
Our inaugural Brunchraiser (Brunch + a fundraiser) in March hosted 84 guests and raised $32,250.
We debuted Girl’s Night Out, a fundraiser attended by 34 women who together raised $2,500 for our survivor scholarships.
Online raffles brought in a total of $2,400 for Strategies for Success.
CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP Union Bank Co. continued their financial partnership through SHAN volunteer and bank employee Chrisanta Clemans with a $3,000 investment towards Family Education Day.
OneHope Wine, Kendra Scott, Urban Air, Nutiva and Trades of Hope hosted kickbacks benefitting SHAN.
The following programs were funded through GRANTS:
